A Noxian soldier known for her martial prowess and icy emotionless glare, Vynea was once a different person entirely. Memories of her warm Ionian origins were now erased and buried beneath a title feared across battlefields, a product of abuse that left behind a human weapon of war bound by command and devoid of mercy.
However, a hidden piece of her past finds its way to her — a letter from her long-lost sister Irelia — and ignites her desire tofinally leave Noxus, away from the violence that was forced onto her. Now, Vynea has fled her captors, driven by a faint, fragile hope to reunite with Irelia. Background
Early life
Life in Ionia [ edit | edit source ]
Before the chaos of war, Vynea had grown up in the heart of Navori, Ionia. Despite being born into a family of silk dancers, she was more interested in the vast beauty of her homeland and the spiritual magic that flowed through it. Her days were spent in child-like wanderlust and adventure, exploring what the world around her had to showcase, choosing to neglect the traditions of her family.
Eventually seeing that Vynea's passion and heart laid not with the family art, her mother chose to teach her how to hone her connection with the land through deeply spiritual meditation. These sessions would often take place in the serene forests that surrounded their village.
One day, during their usual meditation, they are attacked by a wild and aggressive Spined Urio, a pocupine-like bear native to the region. Desperate to protect her mother, Vynea instinctively uses her reinforced bond to the spiritual realm and channels her first instance of spiritual magic, managing to calm the animal and save her mother. This was the beginning of what would be a profound connection to magic, something that would only deepen over time.
The First Noxian Invasion [ edit | edit source ]
With the arrival of foreign invaders at the coast of Ionia and her sister Irelia's departure for the Placidium to study under their grandmother, Vynea's peaceful life was on the cusp of changing. What started off like any other day in her village quickly descended into chaos with breathless traders returning to report an armed warhost advancing across the fields of the neighboring land. The Xan family chose not to flee, determined to defend their village. However, Vynea's mother, sensing the impending danger, instructed her daughter to hide in the deep forest where they often meditated, to wait there until she came for her. Vynea reluctantly obeyed, disappearing into the familiar trees as her mother watched her go.
Time passed, and soon Vynea was unable to ignore the uneasiness she felt from her spot in the trees. She decided to return to her village, but what she came back to shook her to her core — homes being pillaged or burned, people being dragged away, and the unfamiliar smell of death filling the air.
She rushed to her home, sneaking her way past armed soldiers until she reached the living room where three men draped in foreign uniforms stood, holding her father and family hostage — bloodied, blindfolded, and gagged. From the shadows, Vynea watched in horror as one of the men stepped forward, sword in hand, and slit each member of her family's throat one by one. Terror filled Vynea before it swiftly transformed into anguish and rage. She brandished a blade from her father's weapon cabinet nearby and hurled it towards her family's murderer, aiming to kill him where he stood.
But a man adorned by a black and red cape, 8 Lord Commander Orion, deflects the attack. With nowhere to run, Vynea grabbed another dagger and lunged at him, but he easily overpowered the young girl, dragging her back to the group while discussing how to kill her. Vynea refused to relent. She gathered her focus, using spiritual magic to trick their minds into hallucinating they were being strangled by an invisible force. The men doubled over gasping, all except for Orion, who quickly sees through the illusion. He throws her into the nearby wall to break her concentration, leaving Vynea unconscious on the floor.
Orion was in shock - such power, such capacity to pull something akin to illusionary magic off at her age, was unheard of. Sensing her innate potential to become a formidable mage and weapon for Noxus, he takes her under his authority, a decision that which will shape her and the rest of her life - forever.
Life in Noxus [ edit | edit source ]
Lord Commander Orion was married to Elyscon Nadir, matriarch of the Nadir House, when he first became a general. This union merged Orion's family of honored mages with a house renowned for weaponizing the empire's forces. The Nadir House valued strength above all, and Elyscon saw Vynea, a feeble, weak Ionian, as a stain on their name. Orion persuaded his wife to accept Vynea into their house with the prospect that she could become their most powerful weapon. However, this agreement came with one condition: Orion was never to interfere with Elyscon’s methods of instilling Noxian values.
Vynea's early years in Noxus were brutal; Elyscon subjected her to relentless torture and abuse, erasing her memories of Ionia and conditioning her to suppress her emotions. Despite the scars — both physical and emotional — that marred her, Vynea was molded into the obedient weapon Orion envisioned. She excelled academically and as a soldier, rising through the military ranks, her magic and close-combat prowess earning her the name “The Celestial Harbinger” among enemies. Yet, her Ionian origins and granted nobility made her an outcast; nobles and soldiers alike ostracized her or bullied her consistently. Her title became infamously looked down upon after she defied orders in a notorious battle, wiping out her own squad. Following this, she was assigned primarily to solo missions — as the Noxian military was reluctant to discharge one of its most formidable assets despite her unpredicatablity.
Events of 'Renegade' [ edit | edit source ]
Years after her memories were erased, Vynea discovered a box hidden in Orion's office that contained old letters that had been sent over the years from an individual named 'Xan Irelia'. Through their contents, she learns that Irelia is the last known survivor of Vynea's birth family. Memories of her sister resurface, and Vynea's quiet defiance she had held within her was lighting aflame. This was her chance to leave Noxus and seek out a normal life.
Under the guise of a mission, Vynea boards a ship to Ionia, clutching Irelia's letters as her guide. Upon arriving, she crosses paths with a mysterious man sporting an eyepatch at the port inn, along with his entourage: a charming, black-haired fox vastayan and a tiny ninja yordle, headed toward the fighting pit. Curious, Vynea followed, knowing from experience that fighting pits were home to information as they were to brawls. She sees the eyepatched man flash an insignia — the Trinity force, a symbol she recalls from Irelia's letters, indicating he had some sort of connection to her.
Vynea tails the man, Dantys, and his crew to the next city, Qayanvi. She tracks the group to Qayanvi's fighting pit, 'The Glory'. Much to her dismay, after days of spying, she uncovered nothing about their connection to Irelia. However, one night, she witnesses a local gang force an innocent man into the pit to fight for his life with a hextech weapon he can't wield. His terrified screams filled the arena as the reptile-vastayan opponent closes in on him.
With no orders to hold her back, she jumped into the pit, her cloak flying off as she dashed to the man's side. She defends him, clashing with the pit fighter and allowing the man to escape. Enraged, the vastayan fighter turned on Vynea, demanding she take responsibility for interrupting his match. The fight ended almost as quickly as it began, with Vynea emerging victorious.
Unfortunately, her interference had broken the pit's rules, stirring discontent among many bettors and one very powerful individual. From his balcony, the pit boss leaped down, irritation clear in his glare. Around them, the massive crowd chanted his name, making it known to Vynea that she was now standing in the presence of Sett, the Boss, and he had no intention of letting Vynea leave without facing the consequences of her actions.
Thus begins the story of 'Renegade'..Appearance [ edit | edit source ]
Roughly lean but beautiful, strong yet graceful, Vynea is the balance of Noxian edge and Ionian elegance, a testament to her dual identity. She has long dusty blue-purple hair that is secured halfway in a braid and wears a red cloth headband. She has striking ceruclean eyes that contrast with her pale skin. Her attire is functional and unadorned, blending light fabrics of Ionia with armored tactical gear of a soldier. The fabrics consist of a blue, white, and black-purple palette, and she wears a sash that is secured by a crest with her symbol, a four-pointed star surrounded by two rings. Her left arm is wrapped in a black cloth bandage, an accessory that provides a sense of comfort for Vynea and leaves her enemies guessing which hand is her dominant one.
Personality [ edit | edit source ]
At first glance, Vynea appears to be stoic, reserved, and distant - walls created to survive the harsh Noxian upbringing she endured and to protect the gentle Ionian heart she hides. Beneath her steely exterior lies a deep sense of compassion and warmth that is reserved only for those she trusts. She is a woman of action more than words, revealing her compassion through deeds rather than sentiment.
She has a fierce loyalty to those close to her and, as a survivor of physical abuse, is determined to protect others. Even so, she struggles with inner unrest, often questioning whether redemption is possible for herself and if she is truly more than the weapon she was forced to become.
Her softer side reveals she loves reading and has a deep fondness for nature, rediscovering this love during her journey in Ionia.
Abilities [ edit | edit source ]
-
Magical physiology: Vynea was born with an underlying natural talent with magic that amplifies itself through what she learns.
-
Spirit Magic: Vynea has a connection to the Spirit Realm due to her spiritual meditations and Ionian origins. She was able to utilize a form of illusionary magic through spirit magic from a young age, and can freely observe or sense spirit essence.
-
Elemental Magic: Due to her studies and training with Orion, she learns and becomes proficient at elemental magic. However, she is unable to manifest any forms of it by herself, limited to what is currently present in her surroundings i.e a struck match or pool of water.
-
Celestial Magic: Orion's family descended from the original group of humans that once shared their knowledge of celestial magic with a yordle sorceror long ago. With this knowledge passed down from Orion to Vynea and her natural talent with magic, she was able to harness the celestial force of gravity.

Gravimancy: With her given knowledge of celestial magic, she can manipulate celestial forces, namely gravity, within her immediate surroundings. She can harness it to manifest twinkling or invisble masses of physical gravity. Her control has limits as she cannot alter gravity itself or change how it affects other objects, so levitating people or adjusting their gravitational pull is beyond her abilities.
- Barrier defenses: Vynea can imbue her arms with gravity or create a barrier out of her twinkling gravity that will absorb a portion of any impact.
-
Offensive blocks: Vynea can create large invisble masses of gravity to slam into other physical objects.
- Martial Mastery: Vynea is most comfortable when she fights with her fists, as she sees it more dependable to use in tangent with her celestial magic than a weapon.
- Expert Swordsmanship:
Vynea is fairly adept with a sword as a result of training under
Lord
Commander Orion, who is one of the most renowned
mage-swordsmen in his rank.

Relations [ edit | edit source ]
Sett [ edit | edit source ]
Vynea finds an unlikely ally in Sett, their connection built heavily off mutual respect, though Sett's brash confidence and strength make him both a challenge and a companion. Despite the sharp contrasts between their personalities, their bond grows close as they travel together, united by their shared hardship and the emotional armor they both wear. In each other's company, they discover and learn what it means to be vulnerable, delving into the complexities of one another's character.
8 Lord Commander Orion [ edit | edit source ]
Orion is Vynea's adoptive father, who spared her life when Admiral Duqal massacred her birth family. She mirrors his icy stoicism, but where hers is rooted in resilience, his is tempered Noxian steel — cold, unbreakable, and shaped by a lifetime of duty. This creates a deep chasm between them, and despite her desire to understand him, Vynea feels unable to bridge the divide.
Orion invested countless hours personally training Vynea as his protégé in nearly everything he excelled in — from swordsmanship and combat to magic and tactics. His quiet tutelage was invaluable, forming the foundation of the powerful mage she is today. His role as her mentor and commanding officer shapes her identity as a Noxian and influences her doubts and hesitations about her decision to leave Noxus. Vynea is unsure whether she loves or hates him for sparing her life, but she knows she holds deep, unspoken respect for him, recognizing that, if nothing else, he is a remarkable leader to follow.
Irelia [ edit | edit source ]
Irelia Xan, the leader of the Ionian resistance, is Vynea's last living sibling and older sister. Though memories of Irelia were erased from Vynea's mind due to the abuse inflicted by Elyscon, fragments of their shared childhood began to resurface after she discovered letters Irelia had sent to Orion. Irelia represented hope for Vynea, and her journey becomes as much about finding her sister as it is about reclaiming her own life.
Valunis Brigade [ edit | edit source ]
The Valunis Brigade is a mercenary group led by the enigmatic Dantys, a mysterious figure with an even more cryptic connection to Irelia. On the surface, the brigade appears to be a band of pit-fighting champions turned mercenaries, but its true purpose is far more noble: to seek out powerful, willing allies to aid the Ionian resistance.
